Stone Song Pottery Studio
At Stone Song Pottery, we believe creativity isn't about talent or perfection-it's about showing up, slowing down, and letting your hands lead for a while. This is a space for full hearts, muddy wheels, and quiet joy. A place where imperfection is part of the process, never something to apologize for.

About the studio

With Stone Song Pottery Studio I hope to create a welcoming, grounded space where everyone can reconnect with their creativity through clay.
The studio is rooted in the belief that art is for everyone, that creativity is essential, and that joy lives in the process of making not in the achievement of perfection.
Through slow making, the studio offers a place to soften, to breathe, and to rediscover forgotten parts of ourselves.
I envision a studio people return to week after week, season after season. The space will feel lived-in, warm, and alive with shared stories, muddy hands, and quiet joy.

The studio is located in the Royal Square District of York City. We are so grateful to be in such a beautiful and inspiring part of the city. Have you seen the Murals?! There are public parking lots behind the studio (turn on Howard St, do this, it’s where the murals are) or caddy corner across the street from The Bond. Both of these lots are free on the weekends and after 5 pm. But you Must pay during the week or you Will get booted. There is also a public parking garage 3 blocks west on King Street. There is a bathroom and drinking water at the Studio.
Working with clay is an ancient and rewarding tradition. It is generally considered very safe. The only part of pottery that can be hazardous (unless you are drinking glaze, definitely don’t do that) is clay dust. Long term breathing in clay dust can be very damaging to the lungs. To mitigate this risk we are cleaning the studio constantly. Always wet clean, no dry sweeping. Always work clay wet, no bone dry trimming or sanding. We have hepa filtration and I have anxiety, so I promise you the studio is very safe.
This studio was created with love for anyone and everyone who wants to be here. Creativity is a human right and so is respect. Hate speech or any kind of disrespectful words or actions will result in immediate removal from the studio with no refund. The art community as a whole and this studio in particular is a haven for the outsiders and the misfits. Everyone is welcome here. We will empower each other in our creativity and contribute to the vibrant artistic community here in York. I hope you’ll join us.
